What is it to “really want” something?

When one is falling in love, one really wants the person of his/her affection. One wants to be with that person all of the time. When one cannot be with that person, one is thinking about him/her.

I can use this example as a symbol to gauge my desire for awakening. Am I in love with this purpose so that I want, more than anything, to sit in meditation and contemplation with it?

When I have to be away doing other things, am I thinking of my purpose? Am I looking forward to the time when I can be fully immersed with it again?
