#827b

June 9, 2016

I’d like to go back and look at two quotes together:

#827 – One should carefully investigate the bliss of liberation and the sorrow inevitable to ignorance.

#825 – By Self-knowledge rid yourself of the problems connected with the life hereafter. There is no time to lose for life is ebbing away all the time.

“One should carefully investigate …”
“Rid yourself of the problems connected with the life hereafter …”

Recently a woman was attacked for 19 minutes by a pack of vicious dogs. Onlookers were too horrified and too afraid to go outside and try to help.

In another place, a young beautiful 17-year old girl ran away and eloped with her handsome childhood sweetheart. Her mother and a male relative punished her by tying her to a cot, pouring fuel on her, and burning her alive.

Jesus’ body was beaten and crucified.

In A Course in Miracles, the memory of Jesus asks us to make his crucifixion the last useless journey.

Do I need to be attacked for 19 minutes by a pack of vicious dogs?
Do I need to be burned alive by my mother for loving a boy?

The question now is, Who am I? What am I? What is truth?
Also, what is not true? What am I not?

As long as confusion lasts, thinking I am this person, I am subject to extreme, excruciating pain and suffering. It is part of this experience.

As high as pleasure can go in this world, pain can go even lower and deeper.
It is dark; very, very dark.

How does one make the crucifixion (or being attacked by dogs or burned alive by mom) into a last useless journey?

Give up this ‘me’ that seems so nice and interesting, and awaken beyond the dream.
That is the only way.
“There is no time to lose…”
